Which wizard turned my friend into a fountain? Which Merlin taught him how to spend his magic? What wrinkle reached for his chiseled? What rasp enchanted his say? Leak for me and I will grant every wish in your pool. The wizard smoothens and moistens and is praised for his craft and my friend drowns in pennies.

Poetry Tip of the Day!
Almost everything I write is about or because of someone. Most of the time, it’s not about an individual. It could be about a group of people, or a character is a stand-in for an event or universal human experience. It could be about something someone said to me or a feeling or place I am reminded of in a conversation. Regardless of the writing, someone is always behind it. Sometimes I’ll leave a clue. A word or phrase that if you know, you’ll know, but figuring it out is never a prerequisite to getting the full experience of the poem. It’s just a game I can play with my readers. But as humans, we all have similar conversations and related experiences. I’m sure you’ll find yourself in more than a few pieces if you’re looking—even if the eggs stay hidden.
