She said Don’t say I said Say less I didn’t I said They heard They said Well said I said Enough said I wrote They read They said Well read But said Instead Could’ve said I said Well said I wrote Again, I said.

Poetry Tip of the Day!
It wasn’t easy getting here. From a fourth grader scribbling two page short stories to performing on a national stage at CUPSI in 2019 (College Union Poetry Slam Invitational), there was a lot of love and encouragement required. While I would like to sit here and say, “I knew it from the start,” that’s just not true. I didn’t think anything other than a hobby would come out of writing. It was just my quirk like when people say they knit or run or something. But somewhere along the way, my teachers, friends, family, and sworn enemies encouraged me to keep exploring the limits of where my words could take me. And I still am! Even now, I have no idea what kind of writing is my “favorite.” Every medium is a different challenge. I thought I liked stories, but then I wrote poems. I thought I liked poems, but then I wrote plays. I thought I hated essays, but it turns out, I like those too. Regardless, the takeaway here is that I can’t shut my trap, but I think fourth grade Sahib would be proud to see how far he goes.
